Lead Chiropractor: M. Tech: Chiro (R.S.A)
My considerable experience as a Chiropractor has taught me two things. Remain current with the latest advances in back care and take the time to listen and understand the unique need of each patient”
Dr Gary Backlund graduated in South Africa in 1999 after completing a six-year master’s degree in Chiropractic (M.Tech Chiro). He is a member of the General Chiropractic Council – the body charged with regulating Chiropractors.
Gary has over 20 years’ experience of which 15 years have been in Canary Wharf, making him a specialist of issues experienced by work and desk-based professionals.
Over the years he has forged a strong relationship with local GPs and orthopaedic consultants (some of whom are his patients). Gary attends many educational events as both a participant and lecturer. This allows him to be at the forefront of current clinical knowledge and latest treatment advances.
Gary’s specialist areas include spinal and joint conditions, disc decompression, postural analysis and correction, neuralgia (trapped nerves and sciatica), myalgia (muscle pain), shoulder pain (rotator cuff impingement), knee pain and pregnancy related issues.
Gary uses a number of different techniques, some of which are osteopathic and physiotherapy in nature. These include deep tissue massage, dry needling, manipulation of the spine and joints (Diversified) and SOT (Sacral Occipital Technique).
Gary recognises the importance of postural correction, rehabilitation, diet and exercise advice in his goal of taking patients out of pain and to their optimal health.
Outside of work Gary spends most of time exercising. His time is spent between his two passions, CrossFit and bodyweight Calisthenics.
When he is not exercising Gary can be found reading, travelling, and hiking, often in his happy place, the Lake District.
